Awaken now at this first bitter light
Survey a scene of all these lives betrayed
Abomination to the very sight
Lost each and every chance we had to save
Remember this, the vows you can’t set right
The lies you spoke are taken to their graves
The choices made when loyalties are torn
Will remake you as though you were a child
And from these blasphemies this new world born
From blood and broken bones is cruelly styled
It matters not the oaths that you have sworn
By your hand only is your world exiled
See as you march your dark parade of one
Expedience is now your closest friend
Oh cry your tears, the choice is not undone
You fashioned how this bloodbath here must end
You sold them all to be dark Fortune’s son
Forgive you now? A gift I can’t pretend

The emotion is just rushing from your words in this poem.
Thanks so much Charles! 🙂 🙂
you are having a wonderful burst of creativity. I love the days when I have 5-7 stories come to me. I hope my audience does as well. Some days I feel I’m inundating them. Not the case here. You have such a fantastic style that makes each story enjoyable to read. 🙂
Thank you – I have two poems scheduled per day for a number of weeks ahead, then it seems like a lot if I write one or two more over the weekend, LOL. I hope I don’t inundate people – not my intent…and you certainly don’t. I highly enjoy reading (or listening to) your work when you post it!! 🙂 🙂
Nor do you inundate. I really enjoy your stories. Very thought provoking and deep. Wonderfully worded. You have a gift.
Oh, Helen….this was incredible. Thank you for sharing your heart with us so beautifully always. Big hugs, Sis.
Thanks so much my dear!!! xxxx 🙂 🙂
I have absolutely no idea what it means. This, however, is probably my fault because my brain isn’t screwed in the right way round tonight.
Fair enough, its a lamentation on war. 🙂 🙂
heart-piercingly good – what a fine memorium for this day
Thank you so much!! 🙂 🙂
