Evolution

DNA

DNA (Photo credit: Steven2005)

Double helix
Twists widdershins
Tiny cracks
In the unity
Creates new form
Struggling to be born
From infertile ground

Stretch to be
The Other
Separate from
But built upon
Edifice of ages
The backward sweeping clock
Tracks time
Into the immemorial

Evolution
Burns on this pitiless pyre
The alarming fire
Of brute necessity
The splitting seams
Of consensus reality
Give way at last
To a dread and brand new day

I never thought I’d hear the words double-helix and widdershins in the same sentence. Certain a rapid romp from one end of scientific understanding to the other.
