Beautiful creatures
Dance until dawn
Lights in pergolas
Night shadowed lawn
One sole wallflower
Pale and forlorn
One single waltz
Would see her reborn
Beautiful creatures
Canapes and wine
Jasmine soaked air
Ivy entwined
See all the gods here
Fallen divine
Elegant hostess
Slim and refined
Beautiful creatures
Hide all their sin
Blood runs so cold now
Under their skin
Nameless the horrors
Hidden within
On such a night

Harkens back to an era where a night of dancing could simply wash away all the negative and bury it down, even if temporarily! Absolutely beautiful!
Thank you so much!! š š
Excellent imagery in this poem. I’m not sure if I should feel sympathy or envy for these creatures.
Thank you…I felt sympathy writing it, but I suppose one could feel either emotion! š
Speaking as one of the beautiful creatures mentioned above (shut up), I would like to point out that the only sin I have ever indulged in at a party is eating too many vol au vents and being sick.
LOL, and so you paid for your sin already…therefore you are free from the dark thrall of the dance I wrote of!! š
I would waltz with you!
I love this poem. It really speaks to my soul.
Your picture is lovely too!
Thank you so much, that is so kind!! š š
I have always wanted to spend the night dancing – if only i could find someone to dance with. š
