Hero Worship

Everyone wants a piece of you
Everyone wants to be there
Everyone needs your friendship
To believe that you see them and care

Everyone aspires to be like you
Everyone gazes in awe
Every word that you utter
Everything they’re looking for

Everyone follows your footsteps
Everyone falls into line
Everyone calls for this essence
Something so you it’s divine

Everyone looks for the moment
When with your word they are free
Yet everyone yearns to be captured
Everyone, my dear, except me.

Excellent range of emotions in that poem. I feel sorry for the person it is dedicated to if it is, remind me not to upset you:)

I must admit, it’s very difficult being an icon.

    Wow. Well written. Very emotional.

  4. So true that would drive me barmy lol I just think it would be so hard for celebrities no privacy, constant attention. I actually really dislike being watched I get so awkward lol

    • Yes, me too, I’m kind of shy. Hero worship is such a strange phenomenon though – in the end w are all human, none of us are gods… 🙂

      • I am crazy cat lady in the words kinda of shy lol It is strange I think so too, maybe because I am writer and my heroes are mostly dead

      • Most of my heroes are mythical gods, so I’m in a similar position. I don’t have pets at the moment, but when I retire it will be dogs for me – a little dog like I had as a child and a couple of dobermans. 🙂
