Exhaustion

Weary

Weary (Photo credit: PatrickYHC)

Mere exhaustion does not suffice
To name this creeping malaise
This sensory overload
Flickering like fading starlight
Centuries in the pitted deep
Stricken ache along
Elegant limbs, torn
Between a moment
Of movement and no momentum
Gut wrenchingly sick
To the stomach
Dangling head upon shoulders
Unsteady, neck like a marionette
I crawl out of some darkness
Blinded by light too clear
To bear
What is born of a moment’s hesitation
False and failing exhilaration
One step before dusty death?

Like most people, I have a number of sides to me. The most interesting one probably emerges through my writing, hence this blog. I love to read, and also to write, and so this is a way to share both.

Every day you perpetually amaze me with your ability to come up with phrases that I would love for one of my character’s to speak. Where does your muse hail from woman? I want one.

    • LOL, the muse for this came from being really, really tired… more generally, I don’t know to be honest…usually a poem comes from a fragment or a set of words, often the first lines and kind of just evolves.. often I don’t know what it’s about till about halfway through….it’s all a mystery to me really!! 🙂 🙂

you hit the nail on the head with this one – i love the last two words – “dusty death”. Just two words but packed full of substance and meaning.
