Connected Limericks

An ambitious woman once said
Tis better to lead than be led
But with no-one to follow
Her pride she must swallow
On bitterest truth is she fed

A deluded woman believed
That she helped all the people she grieved
The mirror would lie
Should she glance walking by
So no message of truth was received

Both these women should really beware
Tis a virtue to be self-aware
But if this they postpone
They will wind up alone
When there’s nobody left here to care

  1. These are absolutely brilliant, and tying them together – so clever, The third with the wise words is my favourite. Really fun, thanks for sharing.

Funny and wise: a great combo well written.

  6. I find limericks tough because there is a lyricism to them that my naturally disjointed often creepy poems just don’t have lol You have done a fantastic job with it, they have humor but they are meaningful and full of content as well!
