The Cube

Desert stretch
Mid summer haze
Above the endless sands
It hovers
The cube

Large, light blue
Half translucent
Beckoning to a mystery
It seems for moments
To vibrate
As though it may
Fly away at any moment
And then it shimmers
In some welcome
Half alien
In this landscape
Can it belong?

Nearby
A ladder
Solid wood and strong
Sturdy and reliable
Could reach to the top
Of the cube
If it chose to try, to dare

To the left
A horse turns away
As though to depart
Sensing
Portentous storm clouds
Approaching

Yet none should fear
This storm
Though savage it will
Pass through them all
Leaving them perhaps changed
But unharmed
Just a gift of flowers
Uncommon and unexpected
Springing in its wake
Across the desert sand

Hahaha, we all have borg on the brain. Okay Helen, I am not sure I understand what is going on in this one. You seem to have a specific message but it’s just not coming to me, so any hints would be great! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Its based on an archetype game in the book The Cube I cite at the bottom…each item is an archetype and you write how you see them in a desert landscape, then when finished you look up what the archetypes mean and it is a character study for you of sorts. Its really interesting. I read and did this years ago so its my best recollection of what I wrote at the time, put into poetic form. Email me if you want more information! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I haven’t read the book, I do remember watching a very mysterious movie about a cube. This is so intriguing!
