Performance

You perform
Your unique pantomime
Causing such heartbreak
As the rhythm keeps time
Voice of an angel
Heart darker than death
Searching for victims
With every breath

Subtle seduction
You hide it all
By seeming to show
Your heart on your sleeve
Rise from the pit now
All of the circles
That you have dwelt in
Call now for those that believe

Anger and lust
Your lyrics so raw
Achingly haunting
From the depths that you draw
If it was real now
None could blame you for tears
Yet falsity keeps you
Lost in the memory of years.

  1. This was so powerful to me…the last stanza is someone I have dealt with. Hit home. Great work!

Are we all performers? Who’s performance is more true?
