I Am No-one

Darkness

Darkness (Photo credit: Roberto F.)

I am no-one
Nothing to you
I slink in shadows
The depths create me
I am of the dark

Out of the corner
Of your eye
You think you see me
For a moment
Paused by silence
Till I slip away

But a ghost
Not even that
A fear within
Your amygdala
Reptile twisting
Sparkling eyes
See shadows rise

I will be here
After your passing
Still flickering
In another’s mind
After all your
Fears of me
Are left behind

I am no-one
I am nothing
Nobody to you
I am legion
Just a reflection
Seen darkly
In your mirror
Of forgotten
Memory

This reminds me of a Brazilian song. I’ll share when I’m back at home. And you are not no one! 🙂 (people tell me that all the time. Thought I would pay it forward. 🙂 )

Really nice work, Helena, summoning the mood of that slinking fear that hovers around every dark corner. Really enjoyed it 🙂

I loved the poem. There is a dark shadow lurking through the lines of the poem and you really managed to produce it well. Wonderful! 😀
