Witch Hunt

like to drown

like to drown (Photo credit: Aimanness Photography)

Raven hair
Splayed in water
Desperate web
See how
This gypsy’s daughter’s
Fortunes ebb

Older gods
Spells and chanting
Drag her down
One salvation
They are granting
If she drowns

Weighted cords
Tie her feet
Clasp her hands
Her lungs exploding
Terror complete
She yet withstands

Test the witch
See her power
Should she float
Witness, see her
In this hour
Wear death’s coat.

Okay, this is kind of bad, but this reminded me of the Monty Python and The Holy Grail, with the skit about the witch and I laughed. Then I felt bad, to think people actually did this… Makes me sad. 😦

  2. WE would all have been drowned. I can feel them, poor girls.
