Embrace sloth
It’s so much less effort

Don’t be so driven
to unrealised goals

Recognise the wisdom
in slowing down a moment
Or the beauty in repose

Ambition’s just
another name for neurosis
You can run a race
so hard

You fail to notice
no-one’s trying
to keep up.

But I don’t want to be a sloth! Lol. However I agree, stopping to appreciate the little things in life are important. Something I’m not very good at. 😦

    • LOL – you don’t have to be a sloth! The whole poem was inspired by a discussion I had with an ambitious friend of mine – she’s lovely (so I mean no criticism of her by this observation) but she runs herself ragged with it, and she knows this, and I just said to her one day ’embrace sloth, its so much less effort’ and she thought that was funny, so the phrase stuck with me. Really the whole poem is probably secretly my own apologetic for my tendency to like to do very little beyond watching DVDs and relaxing any opportunity I get. 🙂

  2. Helen.. I like this. Wish I was better at implementing the wisdom. A couple of related bits by me that may resonate:

I love this message! So strong yet so true!! I love being able to slow down, so very much needed the older I get now! 🙂

    • Hehehe..I’ve always found it easy to slow down on weekends, subject to not having work carry over into them (which is happening a bit at the moment), but you are very right that age tends to make it a necessity rather than a luxury!! In my case anyway!! 😉

  5. Slowing down to find a better way is a good message to deliver. I like.
