Reflection

When I reflect
on all the possibilities
of love
across my life
it is the words unspoken
chances not taken
that epitomise
my response

Was this fear
of rejection or the unknown?
Or beneath this
something more?
Given I
who so loves words
and finds them easy
written and spoken
in most things
and at most times,
still stayed silent?

Perhaps what stopped my tongue
every time
at crucial,
sensitive moments
was an odd honesty
and hidden kindness
to not mislead
Given I knew
internally
I had nothing to say….

    I love this line:

    “Given I knew
    internally
    I had nothing to say….”

  2. Speaks volumes to the hearts of those that can relate.

  3. I love this one, it speaks volumes about matters of the heart. Well done.

Somebody once said something about preferring to regret things they had done rather than regret things they hadn’t done and I’ve always found that sentiment more than a bit haunting personally. We’ll never know…scary thought. Your introspective examines it loquaciously – your being as you say, a usually talkative person. You draw your ponderings whimsically and I would gamble that you are not entirely convinced at the outcome of your deliberations. I guarantee you’ll get the same result every time you think on it. Drop it! πŸ˜€

Sometimes love is showing the other person you care by not saying anything at all.
