To open up my heart – a thing to learn for me
As though another’s glance would yet return for me
My splintered feelings prick you like a thorny rose
And yet I bid your love be soft as fern for me
I choose so oft to hide behind a cool disdain
While deep I wish another’s heart would burn for me
So many times I leave before the curtain call
But wait behind the stage for one to turn for me
A priceless gem’s a hand that clasps but yet is free
Oh could the light I served but lost still yearn for me?
An attempt at a quasi ghazal form – only quasi as its possibly not quite themically differentiated enough to be classic form. This form is a challenge! 🙂

I love your second verse “My splintered feelings…,” so beautiful and rich. The writing’s lyrical almost whimsical, teasing the reader to find new nuggets of wisdom. Well done!
Thank you so much! 🙂
you have a beautiful mind…
Wow, what a lovely thing to say, thank you so much! 🙂
Beautiful writing. Thanks for sharing your gift of expression.
Thank you so much! 🙂
thank you for sharing this…I really like it. I thought i was the only one who attempted new styles so freely when it came to poetry.
Thank you! Yes sometimes it is interesting to try specific forms I find…I’ve done another ghazal which is scheduled to post a bit later this week…still not sure if I’ve mastered the form but its good to give it a go! 🙂
I need to find more techniques to work though myself. Good luck all your attempts with your work. I am sure you will do amazing work, you never know I may attempt one son. I’ll post a poem this week myself.
Beautiful, just amazingly beautiful. Hmmm….very honest & expressing a vulnerable side. I like it. 🙂
Thank you so much!! 🙂
