Hi, just a couple of attempts at a poetic form (palindrome) I recently learnt about and which I found intriguing and challenging…not sure I have mastered it in either of the poems below (whether they are technically long enough or follow all the rules properly- any advice welcome on that), but they are my first attempt!
Dissociation
She
is fractured
Mind reeling unchecked
Dissociated butterfly, this
left weeping
Weeping left
this butterfly dissociated
Unchecked reeling mind
Fractured is
she.
Grace
Unbidden,
darkness abates
Light embraces hope
Stricken grief calls
spiritual grace
Grace, spiritual
calls grief-stricken
hope; embraces light,
abates darkness,
unbidden

I think the second came out a lot better than the first, but the first is still good. That’s a very challenging style. Looking at them, would it be easier to try and write them backwards?
Thanks – I tend to agree re the second one compared to the first…it is very difficult…might try your thought of writing them backwards… 🙂

LOLOLOL! Thank you!! 🙂
Cool form.
Thank you, it’s difficult, but a challenge is always a good thin I think!! 🙂
I think both were a very good first try at a very hard poetic form. It took me a while to get the hang of this as well and I’m still trying. Check out one of my poems and see what you think?. http://glynisrankin.wordpress.com/2013/04/06/acceptance/
Thank you so much – I checked out yours and it is more successful than mine with the form, but I shall take heart from you that it takes practice! 🙂 It’s probably the most difficult form I’ve attempted and I didn’t think I nailed it, but that the results were still interesting anyway. 🙂
You will succeed, you are a gifted poet.
Thank you!! 🙂
Very nice! Hmm, I like the first one best! 🙂
Thank you!! 🙂 🙂
I like both….was not familiar with this at all. Time to google!! Hugs, Sis!
Thank you!! 🙂 🙂 hugs right back at you!! 🙂
Wow!!! I just googled it…..ok, the out of touch poet here….lol. I get it now, and WOW, that looks so hard. It did not even dawn on me. I just liked them. You amaze me.
Thank you! It is hard and I don’t think I’ve mastered it yet, so I will keep trying! 🙂 I didn’t know about it either until someone else posted one a while ago – I think it was Roxi actually, if my old age memory isn’t deceiving me!! 🙂 🙂
Very interesting. It appears to be very challenging, indeed! I don’t know the format, but I like your attempts at it. Keep at it. great job!
Thank you so much!! 🙂 🙂
These are fabulous Helen, this seems like an unbelievablly challenging style wow! The new prompt is up at my blog I would love if you participated =)
Thank you! I’ll check out the blog prompt! 🙂

Thank you! It’s quite a challenge to do this poetic form, but also fun to try!! 🙂 🙂
