Whirling dervish

Whirling dervish (Photo credit: Jez Page)

This whirling dervish
Mystical dance
A supplicant in
Graceful frenzy
In ecstatic communion
With the Beloved
Fiery sparks
Ignite the soul
In a glory of Oneness
Through every twirling round.

About helenvalentina

Like most people, I have a number of sides to me. The most interesting one probably emerges through my writing, hence this blog. I love to read, and also to write, and so this is a way to share both.

  1. loved it, have you tried the samaa’ or the sufi dance?

    • Thank you! :) No, I have not tried the traditions or dance myself, I just studied the mystical tradition behind it many years ago and found it such a rich, beautiful mystical belief system. :) While I do not follow Islam personally I have such enormous respect for sufism, the writings that arise from it alone are some of the most beautiful spiritual texts I’ve ever read.

  2. Yes, Rumi …very beautiful writing. :)

  3. Great evocation! I like this one a lot.
